The MIT Press publishes extensively in new media studies, so it would make sense to have a new media blogroll for Wednesday Blog Watch. However, we find that part of the work has already been done for us: David Shedden of the Poynter Institute (a journalism institute in Florida) recently updated his excellent New Media Bibliography. With a focus on journalism, included are links to online resources, blogs, institutes, and other new media-related materials. Also of interest is his New Media Timeline, which looks at the history of new media and online journalism from 1969 to the present day.
From the timeline, in 1975:
-The TRS-80 Model 1 microcomputer was released by Tandy and Radio Shack
-The Toronto Globe and Mail began offering Info-Globe, the first commercially available full-text newspaper database.
