The prestigious "50 Books/50 Covers" design competition is intended to identify the 50 best-designed books and book covers of the year. It is sponsored by the American Institute of Graphic Arts, or AIGA, the oldest and largest membership association for designers.
This year's results are being presented at an exhibition at the AIGA National Design Center in New York until November 26, 2008. If you can't make it to the exhibition, the winners have been archived online in the AIGA Design Archives.
We at the MIT Press are pleased that the book I Am a Beautiful Monster was a winner this year, in the book design category. Click here to view the description, credits and juror's comments for this book. Congratulations to the designer, Emily Gutheinz, and all who worked on the book!
