Noam Chomsky turned 80 yesterday. We could offer a lengthy post on the many ideas, debates, and controversies his career has sparked, both in the realms of linguistics and politics. But that would no doubt be superfluous, since if you've had your eyes open to virtually any aspect of intellectual culture, you know something about Noam Chomsky.
So we'll just take a moment to remind y'all that Chomsky is the author of six MIT Press titles in linguistics and that he has been a constant and vibrant presence at our home institution for some 53 years. And we wish him a happy 80th birthday (and many more).
PS - Puzzled by the title of this post? This may help.
