Investigative journalist Mark Dowie talked to Steve Curwood of PRI's Living on Earth about his latest book, Conservation Refugees, which details how major conservation groups have disenfranchised and uprooted indigenous peoples in their quest to establish protected lands. As Dowie explains to Curwood, the century-long history of these groups' efforts is a frustrating mix of good intentions and not-so-good methods:
